Move from SendGrid to Rasket.
Paste a restricted SendGrid key, see exactly what we found and what it costs, and import. Contacts, suppressions, lists, segments, templates and single sends come over, and nothing is sent to anyone.
Paste a restricted key, review, import.
- 1
Paste a restricted key
In Rasket, open Audience → Import & migrate and pick SendGrid. In SendGrid, create a Restricted Access key with Read on Marketing, Suppressions, Template Engine, Design Library, Sender Authentication and Stats, and paste it. Pick EU if your account is in the EU region.
- 2
Review what we found
Contacts, suppressions, lists, segments, templates and single sends, counted, with what it costs on your plan.

Import
SendGrid prepares an export of your contacts first, which can take a few minutes. Safe to close the tab. You get a report and a warm-up plan by email.
What comes over, exactly.
| In SendGrid | In Rasket | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts and custom fields | Contacts and properties | Custom fields match by name, and number and date fields keep their type. |
| Bounces, spam reports, invalid emails and global unsubscribes | Suppressed | Always. They never get mail and never count on your plan. |
| Lists | Topics | Each list keeps its members. |
| Unsubscribe groups | Topics | Everyone except the group's own unsubscribes, which is who SendGrid would mail under it. |
| Segments | Segments | A fixed list of today's members, marked as one. SendGrid writes its rules in its own query language. |
| Dynamic and legacy templates | Templates | Their HTML, with Handlebars tags converted to Rasket variables. |
| Design library | Templates | Each design's HTML. |
| Draft and scheduled single sends | Draft campaigns | Nothing is sent or scheduled for you. |
| Past single sends | Read-only archive | The subject, the HTML, and sends, opens and clicks for each one. |
| Verified sender and authenticated domains | Sender details and domains to add | We offer your sender's name and postal address for Settings. Domains are verified again here. |
Doesn’t come over: Automations, sign-up forms, blocked addresses (a block is temporary), the design editor's layout (its HTML comes over), and each contact's open and click history, which SendGrid doesn't give per contact.
Safe by default. We only read, and we never send.
Your key
SendGrid lets a key be limited to Read on each area, and that is the key to make. The one thing we ask SendGrid to do is prepare an export of your contacts, with its notification email off. It is stored encrypted while the migration runs and deleted when it finishes or you cancel. We never show it or write it to a log.
Warm-up
Nothing is sent when you migrate. The report that arrives by email has a warm-up plan: your recently engaged contacts first, the rest over the following weeks, so mailbox providers get to know your new sending domain.
What it costs
Every plan includes marketing contacts: 400 on Free, 2,500 on Pro and 11,000 on Scale. Unsubscribed, bounced and complained contacts never count. You see the number and the price before anything is imported.
Straight answers.
Which permissions does the SendGrid key need?
Restricted Access with Read on Marketing, Suppressions, Template Engine and Stats. Add Design Library and Sender Authentication to bring designs, sender details and domains too. If the key can't read suppressions, we stop before importing contacts, so a bounced address can't come over as sendable.
My SendGrid account is in the EU region. Does that work?
Yes. Pick EU when you paste the key and we read from SendGrid's EU host.
Do my transactional suppressions come over too?
Yes. Bounces, spam reports, invalid addresses and global unsubscribes all come over suppressed, whichever SendGrid feature they came from. Blocks don't: a block is temporary, and the address may be fine now.
Will my contacts get an email when I move?
No. A migration only brings data in. Drafts stay drafts, and nobody is emailed until you send a campaign yourself.
How much will it cost?
Every plan includes marketing contacts: 400 on Free, 2,500 on Pro and 11,000 on Scale. Unsubscribed, bounced and complained contacts never count. You see the number and the price before anything is imported.
