Move from Substack to Rasket.
Upload your Substack export, or any CSV or ZIP of CSVs. Your subscribers come over with their unsubscribes kept, and so do your published posts. No key, no connection, and nothing is sent to anyone.
Export, upload, import.
- 1
Export from Substack
In Substack, open Settings → Exports and create a new export. Substack emails you when the zip is ready.
- 2
Upload the zip
In Rasket, open Audience → Import & migrate and choose a file. Up to 50 MB. We recognise a Substack export by its columns.
- 3
Import
Review the count and what it costs, then import. Safe to close the tab. You get a report by email.
What comes over, exactly.
| In Substack | In Rasket | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Email list | Contacts | Every subscriber in the export's email list file. |
| Email turned off | Unsubscribed contacts | A subscriber who turned email off comes over unsubscribed. |
| Plan column | A substack_plan property | So you can segment paid and free subscribers. |
| Paid subscription and expiry | Two more properties | substack_active_subscription and substack_expiry, for writing to paid readers. |
| Your publication | A topic | Everyone subscribed is on it, so a campaign can go to it. |
| Published posts | Read-only archive | Each post's HTML, with how many it was sent to and how many opened it. |
| Opens | Last engaged date | The newest post each reader opened, so the warm-up plan starts with them. |
Doesn’t come over: Drafts, images, comments and Notes. Substack's export has no draft bodies or images. Paid subscriptions stay with Substack and Stripe.
Safe by default. We only read, and we never send.
Your key
There is no key: you upload a file, and we delete it seven days after the import ends.
Warm-up
Nothing is sent when you migrate. The report that arrives by email has a warm-up plan: your recently engaged contacts first, the rest over the following weeks, so mailbox providers get to know your new sending domain.
What it costs
Every plan includes marketing contacts: 400 on Free, 2,500 on Pro and 11,000 on Scale. Unsubscribed, bounced and complained contacts never count. You see the number and the price before anything is imported.
Straight answers.
Can I bring a CSV from another platform?
Yes. Upload any CSV, or a ZIP of CSVs. We recognise Mailchimp, Klaviyo and Substack exports; for anything else you match the columns to email, name and unsubscribed, and the rest become properties. Each list becomes a topic, and HTML files in a ZIP become templates.
Do bounces come over from a file?
From a Mailchimp export, yes: its cleaned file is the addresses that bounced, and they come over suppressed. So does a Klaviyo suppressed-profiles export. A Substack export has no bounce list.
Do my paid subscribers keep paying?
Payments stay with Substack and Stripe. Rasket brings the people and their plan as a property, so you can write to paid subscribers separately.
Will my contacts get an email when I move?
No. A migration only brings data in. Drafts stay drafts, and nobody is emailed until you send a campaign yourself.
How much will it cost?
Every plan includes marketing contacts: 400 on Free, 2,500 on Pro and 11,000 on Scale. Unsubscribed, bounced and complained contacts never count. You see the number and the price before anything is imported.
